Description: This patient complained of asymmetric upper eyelids with excess skin resting on her lashes. She felt this made her look unduly tired. After discussion of both brow lift and blepharoplasty, the patient elected for blepharoplasty only. Dr. Lu performed upper eyelid blepharoplasty (upper eyelid tuck) under general anesthesia at the same time as another procedure. Results were immediate, with improved space between the lid margin and the eyelid crease for a fresh alert look and increased ease in applying eye makeup. Results could be improved with periorbital laser for fine lines on the lower eyelids.

Description: This patient had a basal cell carcinoma of the left lower eyelid which required removal and repair. Given its critical location on the lower eyelid, indistinct borders and to minimize sacrifice of skin, Dr. Lu arranged for her to undergo Moh’s excision (serial excision) by a dermatologic surgeon. The patient had also complained of excess skin on her upper eyelids. Dr. Lu performed upper eyelid blepharoplasty (upper eyelid tuck), a skin graft of this skin to her lower eyelid defect, and prophylactic canthopexy (tacking of the corner of her lower eyelid for support). She has an excellent cosmetic result.
